Cellular South upgrades Mississippi network

After 2005’s devastating hurricanes decimated the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Cellular South is strengthening its network in the region with $8 million in new equipment and upgrades in anticipation of the 2006 hurricane season, which started last week.
Cellular South is installing $2.5 million in microwave technology that would bypass damaged or destroyed landline systems if a hurricane hit the area again. This installation will ensure wireless calls will reach their destination.
