How to tell if Fido is really happy to see you

[NY Times] “When dogs feel fundamentally positive about something or someone, their tails wag more to the right side of their rumps. When they have negative feelings, their tail wagging is biased to the left.”

posted on mypetpeeves.com - just laugh out loud funny

While I was mindlessly surfing, I ran across this person’s post on mypetpeeves.com Smeather, thank you for giving me my much-needed laugh of the day!

If I had a dream that included a dead president and a furry, flat-tailed, big-toothed animal I would try to stay awake, too.

Some of my pet peeves…

Rude cell phone users: You know who you are. You just got your double decaf skinny latte no whip and now you’re at the table next to me, loudly talking into your bluetooth headset.

Trust me; I don’t want to know what your girlfriend/boyfriend said/did, what your mother did to piss you off, or worse yet, a detailed account of your recent doctor’s visit. Ewwwww… surely the doctor gave you a cream for that?

Rude pet owners: There are leash laws, even if you don’t care enough about your pet to step outside with the poor animal while he does his business.

Why does it seem like it’s always the big dogs roaming the streets unattended? Small dog owners on my street always seem to be the ones outside with their pets, taking them for walks.

Forward freaks: Friends who send me e-mails constantly, but never include anything personal. Another one of those things that have been forwarded ’round the net and they must send it on to everyone in their address books. Just say NO!

TV Turn Off Week April 23-29

Did you know it was TV Turn Off Week?

I didn’t, until I saw a post online. I don’t think of myself as a big TV watcher, mainly because my favorites are documentaries, classic movies and Animal Planet. I’ve really enjoyed the Planet Earth series lately.

Central Mississippi Blogger Meet-Up May 5th

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

I got an e-mail about a Central Mississippi Blogger Meet-Up being arranged by Terry Heaton on May 5th in Jackson. Try this link if you want more details, but I’ll include the info as well. If the link doesn’t work and you want me to send you an invite, just e-mail me. I’m a maybe, mainly because I am such a sporadic poster, but it sounds like fun.
Host: Terry Heaton
Location:  WTVJ-TV
1820 TV Road, Jackson, MS View Map
When: Saturday, May 5, 11:00am
Phone: 972-956-9994
WJTV-TV in Jackson has graciously agreed to serve as host for a blogger meet-up at 11 o’clock a.m. on Saturday, May 5th. Refreshments will be served and everyone who attends will get the hottest in channel 12 swag, including a T-shirt and a cool mousepad (if the printer can get them there in time).

This is a social event, so come prepared to meet and make new friends. If you know of a local blogger who’s not on the list here, please let me know or feel free to invite them, too. We’d like to meet everybody.

My name is Terry Heaton, and I’ve been blogging since 2002. I’ve participated in blogger meet-ups both globally and at the local level in several communities, including San Francisco, Nashville, Raleigh and Dallas. I helped WKRN-TV in Nashville build “Nashville is Talking,” a beloved aggregator site of the local blogosphere there. That station also runs an aggregator of political blogs in the state of Tennessee called “Volunteer Voters.”

WJTV-TV is interested in getting to know bloggers in the area, and we thought this would be a good way to get started. Again, this is a social event; there’s no agenda for the station other than helping facilitate this meet-up. We recognize the significance of the personal media revolution, and we want to listen to what you’re saying. We think this is a good way to start.

News Channel 12 anchors Byron Brown and Linda Allen will be there, along with Chief Meteorologist Tony Mastro. So come by, say hello, and get your picture taken at the anchor desk.

Please use the RSVP function of this Evite to let us know if you’re coming. We want to make sure we have enough food for everybody.
