Part of it is just that I slept so much today. I made the joke earlier that I got up and took the dog out this morning, and it tired me out so much that I had to take a nap.

Last week was really the week from hell, and it felt like nearly everything that could go wrong did go wrong. Work was nuts from beginning to end, and I really felt like I was snake bit. I just can’t win sometimes, it seems. I don’t remember when I’ve had such a series of unfortunate events.

But all things begin again, so hopefully my streak of bad luck is over and things can begin again fresh. We’ll see. I have my doubts about some of it, but it’s not worth going into.

Saturday afternoon after the convention I left Biloxi and drove to Gulfport down Highway 90. It’s still sad to see so much destruction.

Chaz from iRovr was going out to Ship Island with some friends, and was going to be in Gulfport Saturday. He and I had arranged to meet up on Saturday afternoon at Salute, an Italian restaurant on Hwy 90 & 15th. I had also been in touch with Rosa, a good friend from when I lived on the coast, and she and Mike were coming too.

I got to the restaurant a little early before the rain started, but it was nice to sit at the bar and have a drink before dinner and decompress by myself. The bartender and I chatted and together we watched the ship come back into the harbor. Chaz sent me a text message from the ship that they were on the way in.

We ended up being 9 for dinner - Rosa, Mike and me, Chaz and 5 of his friends from the trip. We had a great time. His friend Larry was particularly funny, and we were sitting by each other. It was fantastic to relax and decompress.

The drive back was uneventful. I was tired and once or twice wondered whether or not I should stop and nap, but a quick stop at a gas station perked me up and I was home in good time. Not long out of Gulfport I was out of the rain, and it was clear sailing from there.

Reading: Bearing an Hourglass by Piers Anthony - Book 2 of the Incarnations of Time series. I read these back in the 80’s, I am just re-reading them now.

Knitting: socks, of course. I haven’t touched my knitting in a week. It will feel good to get back to it!
