A friend laughingly said one day that if she learned needle felting she’d make a voodoo doll. That comment started me thinking about how I would make one.
The larger one was the prototype. I went on to make smaller versions about 4″ tall.

I’ve been trying to practice needle felting off & on. So far I’ve only done simple round projects – a ladybug, a pumpkin pin cushion.
This white cat, Lucy, is my first attempt at something more sculpted. With one blue eye & one green eye, Lucy sits on her red heart mat.
Foam block, wool roving, felting needles, ideas. Yes, these needles are wickedly sharp.
The idea is that repeated poking with the barbed felting needles causes the tiny scales on the raw wool roving to bind together, felting them into tight pieces that can be sculpted into any sort of piece and shape.
