Arts, Beats & Eats

Apr 3, 2009

Cups patioFondren (an artsy rejuvenated section of Jackson) has an event once a month on the first Thursday of the month. Businesses stay open late, have food, music and sometimes giveaways or drawings. They do this once a month, always the first Thursday of the month. It’s always fun, but it gets so crowded that parking is always a problem.

At Mishka's art galleryThe weather faired off nicely after the thunderstorms earlier. It’s turned a little cool as dusk fell, but it was still very nice. My main reason for going was that Buck Winter, of winterspell.com, had his open house for his photography show at Cups. So I met Buck & Chris there. I don’t often get a chance to hang out with them these days, so that was especially nice.

I spent most of my time at Cups, but I also walked around a bit, the art gallery, and Rainbow Co-op.

Computer Co-opThe art gallery is always a treat to the eyes, with a lot of things to see. You have to let your eye adjust before you can really “see” any one particular painting, otherwise it’s all just too overwhelming.

The Computer Co-op had a drawing for an Acer netbook. If I’d won that, I’d have started this blog entry with the news. But I did win a 2gb flash drive.

While I was at Pizza ShackI picked up a small three-cheese pizza from Pizza Shack. There was an impressive collection of cop cars there and they were all gathered on the deck. I’m not sure why, but I wasn’t about to take a photo of them.

I lost a loaf of French bread.

Jan 17, 2009

I don’t know where it is. It’s actually been missing a couple of days, it’s just still puzzling me. I know I bought it, and I remember taking it with the other things to the car. I remember it being in the car when I was unpacking groceries. I don’t really remember taking it inside, but that’s not so odd.

At first, I figured I’d left it in the car somehow. Since it wasn’t going to spoil in this weather, I left it overnight. But it isn’t in the car. It isn’t in the house. The only thing I can figure is that I dropped it from the car to the house and either a dog carried it off or a person picked it up.

Anyway, I had spaghetti without garlic bread tonight.

The good news is, it didn’t get as bitterly cold as they said it would last night. Man, that cold really makes me ache all over.

Oh well, hope you’re all having a good evening.

Our morning rambles

Jan 10, 2009

image656540626.jpgToday is the last day it was going to be warm for at least a week or so, and I didn’t want to waste it.

The high was about 73 degrees, and while it was going to get rainy later on, it was still warm.

Next week is going to be a 50’s/30’s situation, and I am not looking forward to it.

So at about 7 a.m. this morning Radar and I went for our walk, and then headed over to Cups for the morning to enjoy the fresh, warm daylight air, while we still had it.

I’ve had cabin fever pretty badly lately, so I needed to get out. I took some knitting, every hopeful, but I didn’t get more than a row or two done.
